Have you heard of Maxwell Maltz? He’s a plastic surgeon who wrote a mega best-seller in the 1960’s about self image called, Psycho cybernetics. He made a discovery about success and criticism. He said that the single greatest characteristic of successful people is complete immunity to criticism.
History is filled with people who overcame a chorus of critics on their way to creating massive success. But what do you do if you aren’t so think skinned? What if you are sensitive to criticism? What if it hurts when people say that you’re flat out wrong? Or that your produce idea is just dumb? Or that they would never invest or buy from you in a million years because you’re too old, too young, too fat, too thin, too smart, too stupid, too bald, too hairy, or any number of personal things you might hear.
We already know that it’s not the criticism that matters; it’s your reaction to it. But how can we change your reaction to it, so that you can feel good, even while you are being criticized?
And what if you can use any criticism simply as feedback, to evaluate and listen to if it would help you and ignore it if it’s worth ignoring. Would that be a useful skill to have?
But wait! Will that turn you into a heartless, ruthless prick who steamrolls over everyone?
Probably not, if you are not one already – in which case you wouldn’t be reading this blog . . .
When you have the strategy for responding to critics, you’ll actually become more open to feedback because you’ll have a way to hear the critique without that fog of defensiveness getting in your way. Criticism becomes simply information for you to use or not use, instead of a threat to your self image or self esteem.

You can hear the criticism, decide if there is any information in it that is worth hearing and discard the rest. The words will bounce off like marshmallows thrown against the wall of a 10 storey building.
One of the most useful and fascinating ideas from science is the notion of parallel universes. One surprising theory from the world of physics is that every moment of your life splits into whole other universes where an alternate you is continuing on carrying out choices you opted to forego in this lifetime.
Yes, what this means, according to this theory, is every choice point of your life spawned a whole other reality, a whole other universe. There is a reality in which you went away to school, or married that person, or took that job in London, every choice actually occurred and is continuing on.
Each of these other life paths exists right now in another universe like channels available on a television. This is a far out notion, and when you consider how many choices you make in your life, hour after hour and day after day, not to mention how many choices everyone else makes in your life, its truly incalculable how many alternate realities there would be. The number of parallel universes is literally beyond imagining, and by the way, does this sound too far out? Like its science fiction?
Well consider this, a survey of theoretical physicists from around the world found that the majority, yes, a majority, believe that this is how reality does work, that alternate versions of you really do coexist right now in alternate universes, not just for you and the choices of your life, but for every choice that anyone makes.
Now here’s why this idea is helpful, somewhere in your past was a choice point that would have lead to greater wealth than you currently have many choice points in fact. Career choices, investment choices, even choices other people made that affect you and your income, so it’s true that at this moment there is another you in another universe where you are a superb money maker, even a joyful billionaire. This other you is not reachable in any known physical way, but can be reached through the use of your mind.
I will show you how to do that and use that other you as a role model in the Wired for Wealth program.
The whole idea of reprogramming your mind or rewiring your brain to be more efficient or effective is just a metaphor.
Your brain is NOT a computer, and the events of your life are not really a line, they don’t form a timeline, but it’s AS IF they do.
There really seems to be a sequence in your mind that connects the past, to the present, to the future. It’s just a way that your brain seems to organize the events of your life in some sequence that makes sense.
The reason this is important to you is that because your brains has this NATURAL organizational mechanism to code events, you can use it as a shortcut for making the NEW wealth habits you want to acquire, feel as if you have had them your whole life.
Imagine how much easier it would be to acquire a new habit and get rid of old bad habilts – if you had the RIGHT habits your whole life…..
Timelines call also be used to reprogram memories so that you keep the benefits of the experience while taking the emotional charge that is holding you back from being your best self.
This notion of changing the programming of your mind is inspired by, really, the invention of the programmable computer, which comes from Charles Babbage, an English mathematician in the 1800’s.
He was the inventor of the programmable computer and all of our PC technology is modeled after his work.
One of the OTHER inventions of Charles Babbage is something called a pilot. A pilot, also called a cow catcher, is a device that goes on the front of a train, so that a train, while travelling on a track, can scoop up and off to one side whatever is on the track.
This keeps the rail safer, it keeps the train moving safely along, AND it keeps those things off the track that should be moved off the track.
In the Wired For Wealth program I use the metaphor of a pilot on the front of a locomotive to help you sort and transform the events of your life in a very useful way.
In the field of neuro-linguistic programming, or NLP for short, people are often amazed that results can happen so quickly. In fact, some people are downright skeptical that habits or fears can be erased so easily, often in just one session.
One friend of mine told me about his experience with NLP, how he used one LITTLE technique and – in 25 SECONDS – stopped a daily nailbiting habit that had frustrated him for 17 YEARS. I’ve had clients of mine and seminar attendees overcome habits like smoking, procrastination, even sales call reluctance, in minutes, even when they’ve had these habits all their adult lives.
How is this even POSSIBLE, you may wonder.
Getting free from stubborn daily habits in under a minute?
Yes!
One of the fundamental things about THAT technique — what makes it work so well — is that you step out of yourself and see yourself as you’d LIKE to be.
And that might sound simple, and you may say, ‘well, what’s the big deal?’ “so what – so you ‘step out’ and see yourself the way you want to be. How does that change anything?’ But when you DO THIS technique in a very specific way, a very DELIBERATE way, you can make that image — that mental picture of you – SO compelling that it ATTRACTS you, and you become drawn like a magnet away from OLD habits and INTO a NEW identity as the KIND OF PERSON who is free from that old habit. In other words, you BECOME the kind of person YOU want to be in your future, starting NOW.
The process works well because you’re able to DISSOCIATE and SEE YOURSELF in your imagination in a new and compelling way.
There is power and magic in that little process, and in the Wired for Wealth program I show exactly how to use it.
Of course you can. There are some good tools available,more available to you now than ever before! Many of them are on the internet for free. Here’s a partial list of ones that I have found effective during the past 25-plus years.

The list truly goes on and on.
You can find steps for most of the above methods and techniques online, or through a local bookstore or library. You can read the steps right on a page, and do them for yourself.
But here’s that problem again. You probably won’t.
In fact, I’ll bet that you already know something (or even a lot!) about one or more of the above topics. Maybe you have books or audios near you right this moment, or pdf files on your computer. Maybe you’ve even attended a workshop or a seminar!
You certainly have enough information to make deep changes in your life a dozen times over…
But…
Something is stopping you. And it has to do with how you are wired inside your head.
I call that “something” the dark side of your mind. Not dark as in “bad” or “wicked.”
Dark as in “hidden from the light.” The part outside conscious awareness that blinks your eyes, beats your heart, and makes you sabotage your best efforts at making money. So you need to flip the switch, turn on the light and get re–wired for wealth.

Here’s a metaphor: Your conscious mind is like a thermometer, and the dark side of your mind is like a thermostat.
- A thermometer notices the temperature, but a thermostat creates the temperature.
- A thermostat will turn the air-conditioner/heater off and on as necessary to keep the room at that temperature — automatically.
- What’s your internal “thermostat” setting for joy? Money? Affection? How much CAN you have?
- Who decides what your limit is? And how do you change the ‘thermostat setting’?
Most people go all the way to their grave barely scratching the surface of what they are capable of. Their internal thermostat was stuck at a low level. Worse, they didn’t even know their thermostat exists!
Or they go from one “prosperity” manual to the next, learning but never really applying the techniques in a consistent way. Never making the changes that they crave most.
Or they focus on ‘bread of shame’ money windfalls, instead of creating businesses or business systems that ’serve and earn.’

I prefer to call this the law of magnetic attraction. Because there is a funny thing about magnets….
Have you ever had two magnets stick together? It takes some muscle to pull them apart.
But then what happens when you take ONE of the magnets and flip it around?
Right — the magnets repel each other! The more you try to push them together, the more they want to fly apart!
Does this feel like anything in your life?
Maybe a goal that you have been aiming for, and yet the more you race toward it, the more it flings itself backward and farther away?
If something in YOU is pushing a result away, then somehow — some way — the world outside changes. The phone doesn’t ring. Clients stop calling. Business dries up. It’s uncomfortable, but it happens. Your inner world does reflect your outer world.
So then you change, and you become open to results happening, and all of a sudden the magnets flip around. You get calls! Business turns on again.

Many people want something that pays well and is “easy.” As if those are the only two considerations. Why don’t you go for something that excites you?
Easy, pays well, but what’s missing? Take modeling for instance. If there is a cushier job anywhere in the world, I’m not sure what it is. These ladies and men are pampered and catered to in a trailer, and then trotted out to have their pictures taken for a few moments, and then trotted back into their trailer. And yet, all day they (most, not all of them) are bored and uninterested.

When your money shows up as a by-product of massive contribution to others, then you receive two benefits: the money AND the satisfaction of enriching others’ lives!
Think about this…
Imagine if Paul McCartney, or Richard Branson, or Rupert Murdoch, or Oprah Winfrey — at the BEGINNING of their careers — simply opted to win a lottery and sit home. The world would be poorer, and so would they.
Instead — fortunately for many many people — they followed subtle impulses of desire and intention, which led to serving others in a creative way, which yielded them enormous fortunes.

Is there something better?
You bet there is…
Creating the money from work that you love. Work that actually benefits other people.
In mystical Judaism, there is a term called “bread of shame.” Bread of shame is “unearned” profit.
The meaning of this term is that you get more pleasure and more satisfaction from something you intentionally earn than from something handed to you. (Imagine a child who delivers newspapers to earn money to buy a toy, versus a child who is merely handed money for the toy. Which child has more enjoyment of the toy?)
This doesn’t mean hard work.
If hard work were the key to success then stagehands and migrant farm workers would be the wealthiest people around.
(I picked fruit when I traveled through Europe in my late teens so I could eat– and that was the hardest 100-bucks a week I ever made)
Instead I’m talking about intentional work, work that directly benefits others — through service and/or through a product that you make, sell and/or invent.
And — this is important — work you are willing to be paid for. (Don’t laugh. A lot of people leave this part out.)
What would YOU like to do for money?
Finding money in the street, or in a ‘found check’ in the office? That’s great, but then what? What will you do to ‘manifest’ money NEXT month?
By the way, a woman I know who won the lottery twice certainly didn’t have lasting happiness from doing so, either time. (And newspaper stories often remind us about lotto winners who wind up losing everything and ending up worse than when they started!)
Think of something that would pay you well, would benefit others, and make you excited to do every day. Something you would do even if you were on vacation, just because you love it. Something you would do even if you were already independently wealthy.
Turn that into a business or work project, something you get paid for, and you will be one happy camper. Learn how with my Wired for Wealth program.

Imagine everything you own is taken from you.
Yes, EVERYTHING.
You have no computer, no job, no home, no car, no customers, no business.
No friends or colleagues either. Nothing.
ZZZZAAAP, you wake up wearing nothing but the clothes you have on now, and you are physically in a dumpster in some downtown city.
(In the U.S. a dumpster is a large metal container where garbage is kept, behind shops and office buildings.)
You wake up, realize where you are, and then…
What would you do first? Yeah, we know you would get OUT of the dumpster. But THEN what would you do?
How — exactly — would you recreate your lifestyle the way you had it before?
Or would you?
Maybe you would create a NEW and better lifestyle.
Probably not, but you darn sure wouldn’t STAY there in the dumpster, saying something to yourself about how this is your ‘new’ reality.
Instead, some impulse inside of you would say, “This isn’t who I am or how I should be living!”
THAT impulse would — somehow — carry you out and into a nonstop process of change that would really be automatic.
I mean, there’d be WORK involved — you’d have to get the food and shelter somehow — but you wouldn’t have to “get yourself” to take action.
You wouldn’t need a stack of Tony Robbins motivational tapes to keep you focused on your ‘goals’, that’s for certain.
In fact, if I caught up with you a year later, how likely is it that your life would resemble the life you had BEFORE the dumpster incident?
You’d have a new place to live, your new cable/sky-tv just the way you like it, a new cell/mobile phone, clothes just the way you like them, your favorite shampoo, favorite beverage in the fridge, all just the way you like them.
Somehow, that IMPULSE inside you would carry you up to this familiar level.
That’s great!
But then that same Impulse would…STOP.
So here’s the question…
How would “It” know when to stop?
In most cases, this impulse inside of you would RE-create your life the way it was, but not any MORE than the way it was.
So you’d make a new home happen, but not two homes. And not a mansion, either, at least not any bigger than the one you’re used to.
You’d make a car happen, but not a fancier car than before.
You’d recreate your income, but your income just like before.
Where does that Impulse get its instructions anyway?
I know a man who fled a communist country years ago with NOTHING but his wife, his two children and one suitcase.
Fast forward a year, and he was in Chicago (a new country!) with the SAME lifestyle he had before.
No better, no worse. (He actually lived well, so his ‘normal’ was better than most people’s. The point is, it wasn’t any better than he had.)
If Donald Trump or Richard Branson woke up in that dumpster, with no resources at all, what would THEIR impulse cause them to do and create?
Advanced Super Bonus question: HOW would their Impulse GET THEM to do those things?
Can you change your impulse? Can you improve it so that you have a new Impulse, aiming where you would RATHER be?
